The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an Application Engineer - Pressure Sensitive Adhesives you will support application and new product development of pressure sensitive adhesives and tapes.  The job includes supporting application development, training, specification reviews, competitive intelligence, identifying customer needs, and front facing commercialization.

As an Application Engineer - Pressure Sensitive Adhesives you, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Work with global Application Engineering, product development and marketing personnel to develop new pressure sensitive adhesive bonding solutions for industrial and electronics markets

  • Provide launch support for new product programs by generating supporting documentation, demonstration tools, videos and training materials

  • Build competitive value propositions for effective new product commercialization

  • Build a deep understanding of customer needs and competition in assigned market focused areas and provide “Voice of Customer” (VOC), new product ideas and competitive analysis.

  • Diagnose customer application issues and help solve in an expeditious manner

  • Willingness to participate in early morning or evening meetings with a global team

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Four (4) years of experience working with tapes or polymers with in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) or more years of experience working with pressure sensitive adhesives

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in application engineering

  • Experience working with customers to solve technical problems

  • Experience working with cross functional team using Agile methodology  

  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
