You Responsibilities

The University Relations Recruiter (URR) will be responsible for recruiting activities related to the successful identification, evaluation and hiring of college interns and recent college graduates. Focus areas include strengthening internal functional partnerships, identifying and developing key university relationships and building the early talent pipeline to meet current and future business needs. Engineering will be the primary area of focus.


  • Support full life cycle recruitment activities for early talent positions (primarily intern and development programs).
  • Partner with functional leadership and HR to understand anticipated future work force needs.
  • Builds a diverse talent pipeline to have the right skills and capabilities for current and anticipated future functional needs.
  • Plan and execute on-site and virtual recruiting events; develop innovative ways to promote John Deere as a high-tech, manufacturing company.
  • Serve as a primary contact with assigned college/university to build and deepen relationships with faculty, student organizations and career services.
  • Monitor and understand market demographics to understand the available early talent pool and make recommendations for recruiting strategy enhancements.
  • Continually review the early talent recruiting process for effectiveness and ROI, providing insight and feedback as necessary.
  • Participate on a variety of cross-functional HR teams to enhance candidate experiences.

What Skills You Need


  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in full life cycle recruiting. Must have experience recruiting for technical positions, including software engineers, QA engineers, manufacturing engineers, design engineers, etc.
  • Attentive to detail and well-organized; ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff with a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 50% during peak recruiting months (September-October; January-February) and up to 25% travel the remainder of the year.
  • Experience in applicant tracking system (ATS) utilization, Success Factors experience is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen -willingness to take ownership, think creatively, and thrive in ambiguity.

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Strong Microsoft Suite experience, especially in Excel, Sharepoint and Teams
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Experience presenting to varied levels of the organization
  • Exposure to varied technical areas including Engineering, Operations and Information Technology
  • Experience with employment law and related regulations is a plus

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Communication, Engineering or similar degrees.
  • HR or other-related professional certification is a plus
