Job Description



As a National asset, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) provides employees with excellent pay and benefits as well asexceptional work/life balance and employment stability.NNL is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Radiological Infrastructure Stabilization team!

Radiological Infrastructure Operations (RIO) executes complex radiological and asbestos work for the purpose of minimizing liabilities at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Site.

Some of the dutiesand responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited, to:


  • Decontamination and decommissioning of legacy facilities and systems

  • Workas a leader amongst the work crew, maintaining a vast number of radiological qualifications up to and including Qualified Monitor and Production Radiological Controls Supervisor

  • Assist in training and mentoring by less experienced peers

  • Assistin the coordination of tasks and working closely with Engineers of Radiological Work to develop work packages

  • Applyengineering theory and technical skills to support activities which may include planning, design, operations, construction and maintenance follow and inspection, shipment of materials, testing of components, systems, and equipment

  • Surveillance of manufacturing and quality control practices, tasks associated with the control, accountability, and disposition of nuclear or radioactive materials and hazardous waste

  • Complete tasks associated with environmental, safety and health with primary focus on safety, inspection/monitoring and technical training

  • Develop technical processes and machinery/system layout to optimize the flow of work

  • Conduct data collection for engineering analysis and statistical studies

  • Implement engineering analytical decisions

  • Apply technical knowledge and experience in the study, development, correction, and prevention of industrial type problems

Required Skills



Senior:

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience; or

Associate degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or

Bachelor degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience


Specialist:

High School diploma or equivalentand a minimum of fourteen years of relevant experience; or

Associate degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience; or

Bachelor degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience







Preferred Skills




  • Previously or currently qualified as a Production Radiological Controls Supervisor

  • Previous experience as a Qualified Monitor or Radiological Controls Technician

  • Ability to build strong relationships with the Engineers of Radiological Work and Operations & Maintenance personnel
