Supplier Quality Engineer III at Bio-Rad Laboratories in Hercules, California

Job Description:

Bio-Rad Laboratories is looking for a seasoned and autonomous Supplier Quality Engineer to support the local and remote locations of Bio-Rad. You'll have the opportunity to work with Bio-Rad's suppliers to qualify, audit and maintain relationships that keep the supply chain moving. You'll collaborate with various take holders, improve audit work instructions and generally implement continuous improvement in the Supplier Audit process in order to foster long-term supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• S-CAPA System Management: Maintain the S-CAPA system in Quality Notifications.


• Supplier Audits: Plan, Execute, and document Supplier Audit for Instrument and Chemical suppliers in support of the Global Supplier Audit Program (GSAP).


• Overall review, status, and work on improvement processes are common goals, including the review and action-plan development of Supplier issues that cause line failures, re-work, Excess & Obsolescence, increased Cost of Quality (COQ), and other negative situations.


• Coordinate suppliers and verify supplier quality standards are in accordance with Bio-Rad's requirements.


• Track and qualify or disqualify suppliers according to Bio-Rad standards.


• Monitors supplier quality performance by tracking product defects, delivery failures and other recorded incidents involving he supplier's failure to meet requirements and recommend corrective action.


• Maintain successful relationships with procurement, engineering, manufacturing and regulatory departments.


• Partners with problem suppliers to identify root cause of quality issues and ensures timely corrective action is taken to secure continuity of supply.


• Serves as liaison with vendors for supply chain, suggests structural quality and process improvements and collaborates with other engineers in a team environment.


• Assist in the development and implementation of supplier management programs.


• Aide manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined NPI process.


• Ranks & prioritizes suppliers for supplier quality improvements and partners with supplier personnel to improve suppliers' internal process.


• Train suppliers to effectively execute supplier corrective action requests (SCAR) and corrective actions preventative action (CAPA).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical).


• ASQ CQE, ASQ CQA, or ISO 13485 Lead Auditor Certification.


• 5+ years' in an engineering, quality assurance and/or manufacturing supplier quality environment.


• Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing.


• Advanced verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal customers and suppliers, and to develop and present communication plans and strategies.


• Advanced knowledge of quality tools; i.e. supplier assessments, First Article Inspections (FAI), Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA), 8D Problem Solving, Root-Cause Analysis, Corrective Action, Mistake Proofing and Process Control.


• Advanced interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.


• Ability to create and deliver presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.


• Ability to take complex technical information and convey it to various levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner.


• Ability to perform complex statistical reporting, including strong skills in composing logical, detailed, and analytical reports.
