ATI is a global manufacturer of technically advanced specialty materials and complex components. Our products support diverse markets and industries such as aerospace and defense, oil & gas, electrical energy, medical, automotive, and other industrial markets.

We are currently hiring an Engineer, Process Models at our Hot Rolling Process Facility (HRPF) in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania (suburb of Pittsburgh). Our HRPF is a $1.2B state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that enables us to respond faster, develop new products to match our customers changing needs, and produce specialty and stainless products in unprecedented geometries.

As an Engineer, Process Models you will be responsible for defining, refining, and reviewing the functionality and performance of mission critical automation and control systems that are part of an integrated solution to ensure we are optimized for production and producing material that meets customer specifications . As a specialty materials producer, the HRPF has both thermal and hot rolling operations with a product mix that is broad with new product development, simulation, and commissioning occurring frequently.

In order to become successful, you'll have to quickly learn ATI, our equipment and systems, materials, and processes. A successful Engineer, Process Models will work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Information Technology, Technical Services, and Process Engineering departments to accomplish goals related to process and quality improvements, cost reduction, equipment obsolescence/integration, and automation improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

* Manage the existing models-based manufacturing systems
* Model through simulation new product for manufacture, implement setups for new product, and monitor existing manufacturing processes for health.
* Manage learning algorithms to refine plant model as well as product models
* Model and analyze feedback regulators for both model-based and PLC systems
* Lead/participate in problem-solving activities; engineer and implement solutions
* Perform data analytics review of process events
* Interact with internal staff and shop floor personnel, as required, in the performance of job responsibilities.
* Maintain and enhance system documentation

This is a daylight role, typically 7am-4pm but you will share and provide 24-hour/7 day on-call support responsibilities on a rotating basis with existing staff

Basic Qualifications


* BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics is required, advanced degree preferred.
* Required academic background in control theory and advanced control topics, or associated experience such as: Feedback Control theory, PID loops, or other forms of regulators, or Mathematical modeling of a physical process

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to Basic Qualifications)

* Advanced Degree
* At least 3 years of process modeling and process automation experience through integrated systems and within manufacturing
* Experience with Statistical Process Control
* Experience with structured text programming such as, Python, Java, C++

Skills:

* Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and accomplish team and individual goals with excellent judgment, motivation, and planning capabilities
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail, and reliability skills with the ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal instruction
* Strong ability to provide technical leadership in the automation systems area and maintain related systems
* Effective at developing better methods or techniques and deliver high-quality, well documented solutions
* Strong project management skills with the ability to organize and lead projects and audits effectively
* Proficient with MS Office 2010 or newer
