The Strategic Insights Manager is responsible for delivering insights based on competitive intelligence, analysis, and research to support P&Ls, and the development and execution of IHG’s corporate strategy. The Manager will lead processes and teams (direct, matrixed) to provide strategic insights to decision makers across the Family of Companies. The role reports to the Director, Market Research and Competitive Intelligence.

• Manage and enhance processes to track market and competitive activity to inform executive management’s strategic decisions. Monitor industry activity to enable deep understanding of current and new competitors, opportunity sizes, and market trends.


• Lead complex market research initiatives and programs, using advanced methodology in a highly collaborative environment.


• Provide market insights and thought leadership using primary, secondary and competitive intelligence research methods to support strategy execution.


• Manage resources and teams (direct and matrixed), develop and foster growth for teammates, enhancing professional and analytical skills. Create and sustain an engaging team environment.


• Proactively identify emerging internal client needs for insights; anticipate information needed and clearly articulate insights of importance. Earn client trust and continuously build credibility for the greater team.


• Facilitate cross-functional insights generation to drive decision making for IHG leadership.


• Engage in cross-industry discussions or forums to gather information and intelligence useful to the organization or specific initiatives.


• As part of the broader Strategy team, participate in and support strategy engagements as needed.


• Additional duties as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry or functional work experience in a research or consulting environment (i.e. market research firm, consulting, investment/brokerage research, or internal consulting capacity); in-depth knowledge of health care industry preferred.

• Experience managing teams responsible for providing research and analysis, consulting, or related services; strong track record of successfully developing direct reports’ professional and functional skills.

• Proven success managing research programs and working in matrixed teams.

• Adept at building collaborative relationships that enhance the flow of information and insights necessary to drive impact for an organization; ability to influence others at all levels throughout an organization.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with large groups, facilitate team discussions, and associates at all levels.

• Self-motivated, ability to succeed in ambiguous environment, and work under tight deadlines with rapidly changing priorities.

• Expert experience in one or more areas: Market Research (quantitative or qualitative), Competitive Intelligence, Financial/Investment Analysis, or Strategy/Business development.

• Expert level usage of Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), proficient with SharePoint

• Bachelor’s degree in business, research, finance/economics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
