Senior Sustainment Engineer


Our Quality Management team is looking for a Senior Sustainment Engineer to define, create, maintain and execute quality assurance testing for Boingo Products (Web Apps, Tools, and Products on various devices). The Senior Sustainment Engineer will also perform QA for Boingo Services - Wi-Fi, DAS, Small cells, LAA, WiFi6, CBRS, and 5G networks. This position will work cross-functionally to build, drive, and implement requirements for the Quality Assurance processes used during software releases, and venue installations. Our Senior Sustainment Engineer will have the opportunity to advance their skills, working with the latest wireless technology (WiFi-6, CBRS, PLTE, 5G) and using the latest QA tools for site surveys across Wi-Fi and cellular technologies.


Responsibilities:



  • Develop end to end, system test plan, UAT (User Acceptance Test) plans, learning all our Boingo Products & Services and execute those tests in the lab and in the field through functional, integration load testing, and stress testing.

  • Manage & support testing environment, and testing lab includingconfiguration(Wi-Fi signals, Servers, Database, Networking Equipment)

  • Conduct real-world performance testing on a wide range of wireless solutions, including LTE, DAS, small cell, and Wi-Fi.

  • Verify new builds for bug fixes and provide detailed status of testing progress; analyze and troubleshoot network connectivity problems and performance issues

  • Drive network and software bug triage processes, working closely with cross-functional team members to prevent, report and resolve product defects

  • Collect and utilize post-deployment acceptance testing data to ensure design specification requirements are met and that the system functions at optimal levels for integration with the carrier(s) macro network

  • Assist in reviewing wireless network designs and create and execute test plans

  • Provide estimates of testing effort to support the project plan

  • Participate in Network Quality for Boingo venues and measure various Wireless Network Performance KPIs.


Requirements:



  • 4+ years' experience in QA testing of wireless networks, telecom, internet and/or software.

  • Experience testing multi-tier applications or web sites with PC, MACOSX, iOS, and Android platforms with multiple Mobile devices (handsets, tablets, laptops).

  • QA testing experience using web technologies, Oracle RDBMS, and SQL using UNIX / Linux as well as Windows environments.

  • Experience with cellular / Wi-Fi design / survey tools (Ekahau / iBWave), network planning and optimization tools (PCTEL iBFlex scanner, Rohde & Schwarz, Nemo, JDSU or equivalent), in indoor and outdoor cellular benchmark testing and CW testing

  • Experience commissioning, optimization, and testing of DAS, Small Cell, and/or Wi-Fi

  • Proven track record of analyzing and resolving network connectivity and performance problems using packet captures systems

  • Industry experience in ISP, Telecom or Wireless companies

  • Experience configuring network equipment like Wireless access points (WAP's) & controllers, switches, routers, DHCP, DNS, RADIUS services

  • Understanding of network authentication & EAP protocol types, RADIUS server, captive portals, WISPr, Wi-Fi Hotspot2.0 protocols

  • Thorough understanding and experience in Database, Networking (TCP/IP, HTTP,XML, SQL, 802.11a/b/g/n), Operating Systems (Unix, Linux, VMWare), AAA (Radius), BRM and Business Intelligence/Analytics and Open Source Tools.

  • Understanding of various Software Development Life Cycles (Agile,Scrum, CMM, ITIL)

  • Excellent written and Oral communication skills with the ability to multitask

  • Quick learner and able to take initiative to improve products, tools, and process

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Ability to travel 50-75% time for field testing.


Nice to have:



  • Industry experience in ISP, Telecom or Wireless companies

  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi networks with the ability to set up Wi-Fi networks

  • Certifications like CCNA, CWNP, VMware, Solar Winds will be an added advantage

  • Ability to participate in Wireless Standards Committee to drive new and upcoming technology standards

  • Involved with defining 5G network designs and testing

  • Good understanding of newer cellular technology (LAA, CBRS, 5G networks) and Wi-Fi technologies (Wi-Fi6, 802.11ax); Working knowledge on wireless industry standards and forums like 5G, LAA, MulteFire, WBA, WiFiAlliance is a plus

  • Master's degree preferably in Computer Science/Engineering
