Job Description



Shape the future of the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) in a Program Manager role! This team is tasked with a complex mission that includes the technical, professional, and personal development of over 3,500 nuclear operators and 550 staff annually. To establish and maintain the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training Program (NNPTP) as the best training program in the world, continuity in leadership through a senior program manager position is required.

This position plays a vital role in helping innovate, evolve, and refine programs at NNPTC and for the fleet to help achievetraining objectives.The Program Managerteams proactively with NNPTC senior Navy leadership (e.g. Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, School Directors) throughout their tours of duty, providing a steady and sustaining influence as the normal cycle of Navy leadershiprotation/succession occurs.

Significant responsibilities of this position include:


  • Act as a principal advisor to the Commanding Officer on all matters involving the command's mission, program goals, and objectives.

  • Be a champion for innovative programs in teaching, curriculum design, and the use of technology in the classroom to advance student learning outcomes.

  • Benchmark and foster relationships with leading academic and vocational institutions to help the staff stay current and leverage the latest advances in instruction and learning.

  • Establish and oversee contracts with outside experts to assist in sustaining innovative and value added teaching/learning initiatives that better prepare nuclear operators for the fleet.

  • In coordination with NNPTC leadership, enact new programs, refine and optimize successful programs, and critically assess and discontinue programs that have lost their effectiveness.

Required Skills




  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of twelve years of relevant experience; project management experience; or

  • Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience; project management experience

  • Previous or current Naval Nuclear Operatorqualified

  • A minimum of 10 years ofleadership experience within the Naval Nuclear PropulsionProgram.







Preferred Skills



Proven success in delivering objectively measurable improvements in student learning outcomes and in proactive teaming with senior navy leadership.

Prior experience and success in a senior leadership position within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training Program, such as Nuclear Power Training Unit Training Manager, NNPTC School Director, or above.

PMP/PMI certification

Experience using Project Management Tools and Software (P6, MS Project, etc.)
