Overview:

The A/R Analyst I ensures the timely collection of outstanding accounts receivable and resolution of shipment, billing, or payment problems.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Identify, research, analyze, and resolve shipment, billing, and payment problems to achieve set targets.

  • Perform account reconciliations and escalate issues to management as appropriate.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal personnel through phone calls and in person.

  • Review, modify, and submit daily invoices to customers.

  • Make collection calls and follow up as necessary with the appropriate documentation and information, to ensure payment is made as promised.

  • Maintain accurate and legible records documenting collection efforts, facts pertinent to the transaction, and status of payment or reason for payment delay.

  • Research and prepare adjustments (i.e. linking, pricing, general ledger, etc.) and assist A/R with applying any unidentified payments.

  • Perform contract closeout reconciliation at the completion of each Purchase Order, Task Order, or at the end of the contract Period of Performance.

  • Provide management with account delinquency information, payment trends or new changes to customer payment processes that impact billing and collections, and the overall status of key areas as requested within assigned customer base including cash collections, balances >90, > 1year old, and credits > 1year old.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2-3 years of related experience in corporate collections.

  • Experience with the federal government is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Exhibit tact, diplomacy, and team player attitude when dealing with management, co-workers, customers, and vendors.


  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of the collection function with the Federal Government.

  • Proficient knowledge and use of tools and resources such as PeopleSoft, Excel, and Salesforce.com to effectively and efficiently gather and present information related to collection issues.

Work Environment:

This position will be located in the UNICOM Government, Inc. corporate office in Chantilly, VA. The work environment is a typical office environment.
