I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

This position is responsible for conceptualization, development, and direction of produced Home Design content for the magazine in both print and digital formats. The Sr. Style Editor is expected to ideate and pitch produced stories and manage those projects through production. The Sr. Style Editor is also expected to collaborate with fellow editors to translate creative concepts into strong visual/photographic presentations that achieve the magazine's overall aesthetic and material needs. The position also requires staying abreast of home design and editorial trends to ensure the content you create is current as interpreted by your supervisor and BH&G creative leadership. Manage freelance resources and track projects as assigned by BHG Style & Design Director.

II. Essential Job Functions

Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

70%Ideate and execute visual stories, often in collaboration with other editors. Create mood boards, presentations to pitch ideas, design sets and set components. Source materials, furniture, and props. Style projects for photography. Oversee all aspects of planning, executing, and directing photo shoots.

20%Work with PR to source current product & resources and track sourcing. Keep track of schedules and meet photography deadlines. Maintain prop/product organization as assigned. Communicate and direct outside freelancers on projects as assigned.

10%Trend forecasting: Be up on current design trends - interior, entertaining, garden & holiday. Cover new markets for Home Design staff by attending trade shows and other events as assigned.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or 5 years related field, or equivalent training and/or experience

Deep interest and knowledge of interior design, market trends and content creation for print/digital and video.

Experience:

This is a creative position that will require a visual portfolio of past related work.

A general knowledge of photography to be needed to collaborate with photographers and set construction staff.
Minimum 5 years magazine or related publishing experience. Previous photography/design/producer experience preferred.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to manage detailed, complex projects

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong sense of photographic/design production and presentation skills

Basic knowledge of InDesign, Word, Power Point, Photoshop

% Travel Required (Approximate):

20% Limited travel as assigned for projects.
