Our Warrick Operations is seeking a PCS Infrastructure Technician and you might be a phenomenal fit for it! The primary purpose of this role is to provide process control systems support for plant operations. The support is to include infrastructure, hardware, software, and applications for all levels of process computer environment on site. Specific equipment includes PLCs, HMIs, Process Computers, Programmable Drives, SCADA Systems, Smart Instrumentation, system interfaces and associated devices/software. Our new colleague will also support on call functions and assist in sophisticated troubleshooting as the need arises to minimize downtime and return processes to production safely and within environmental permitting requirements. Our key activities are:


  • Provide program management oversight for projects within site and keep projects aligned with Alcoa's standards.


  • Handle software/hardware licenses, support contracts and support site specific systems.


  • Assist on trouble shooting, problem solving and repair of all Information and Process Automation System infrastructure, equipment and associated control programming.


  • Develop and apply maintenance knowledge to improve operational efficiencies and reduce maintenance costs.


  • Champion and implement reliability measures to improve asset availability through automation and control.


  • Initiate Capital Project Requests for improved maintenance and reliability, or life cycle management, of process control and communication equipment.


  • Provide project support and implement improvements that are identified by the operations to improve overall performance.


  • Document and maintain records for all identified Information and Process Systems.


  • Meet the defined PCS responsibilities outlined by the ITAS and PCS ASAT protocols to reduce risk and improve system integrity on all equipment hardware, software and application code.


  • Guide location activities for compliance with NERC CIP-C standards as applicable in cooperation with the location Compliance Coordinator and the US Energy PCS Leader.


  • Provide support for site compliance with NERC reliability standards (other than CIP-C) as needed.


  • Assist PCS team members in the support of the electrical maintenance groups for the daily support functions performed for the automation equipment.


  • Supervise and improve processes, procedures and equipment to eliminate or minimize environmental and safety hazards in pursuit of zero incidents.


  • Liaise with the PCS team members, BU Groups and external providers to deliver common solutions to site.


  • Major customers are site production, maintenance, technical, and operations management.


About you:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or similar field) or equivalent work experience.


  • 2+ years experience in Information and Process Systems function in operating facilities preferred.


  • General business leadership skills including cost management is wanted, besides being customer service oriented.


  • Experience with IS and Process Control technologies, solutions and processes (Instrumentation, drive controls, PLC, HMI, SCADA and Info App technology).


  • Project management skills including estimating and tracking; knowledge of manufacturing operations and operational support .


  • Analytical, good communication and problem solving skills.


  • Basic network/cabling troubleshooting skills and familiarity with virtual hosts/servers.
