Department:
870000 Medical RecordsExpectations:
Codes diagnoses and procedures utilizing the ICD10 and CPT-4 coding systems on an automated encoder/grouper program. Accurately abstracts key data elements from patient records for data reporting purposes. This position requires flexibility of hours.
Education:
Completion of an AHIMA approved coding certificate program.
Experience/Training:
1+ years of recent experience coding in an acute care setting is required. Experienced with 3M encoder/grouper and CERNER abstracting system preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
Skills:
Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology. Strong communication skills.
