Duties and Responsibilities

Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for Postdoctoral Fellow in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry for academic year 2021-2022. The department has over 150 years of history, more than 15 tenured/tenure-track faculty members in the areas of Analytical, Biological, Inorganic, Organic, and Physical Chemistry, along with over 50 graduate students. This position will serve as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Pengfei Li's research group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The focus of this position would be performing research on computational modeling of metalloproteins and/or method development for modeling metal ion containing systems. The expectation of this position would also include instructing scientific research of the graduate and undergraduate students in Dr. Li's group.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Molecular Biology. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and have a record of excellent scholarship. Experience working or conducting research in molecular dynamics simulations of biological systems is desirable. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.


Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in computational method and software development is highly valued

* Expertise in Python programming in highly valued

* Expertise in quantum chemistry calculations is valued
