About the Role:

NLOK is looking for a director of tax accounting and compliance to join our team. The individual will be responsible for the global tax accounting/provision, the US tax return, and LatAm tax along with managing the US income tax team. This role reports to the Head of Tax.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the review and preparation of the ASC 740 global income tax provision calculations for quarterly and annual SEC filings including but not limited to GAAP & Non-GAAP effective tax rate, ASC 718 calculations, tax reserves related to uncertain tax positions (ASC 740-10 & FAS 5), valuation allowance, forecast of the AETR, cash tax rate, accounts reconciliation, quarterly analytics, journal entries, footnote disclosures, etc.


  • Perform/review complex tax technical research to support the positions taken by the company including documenting the position and communicating with management the conclusions of the research


  • Manage and maintain an appropriate level of internal control and documentation on a quarterly basis in compliance with SOX 404 requirements for income taxes


  • Lead the preparation of US taxable income and review the associated workpapers


  • Manage the tax return preparation process and confirm the coordination of the all aspects of the US return, including working with the service provider and the other team members


  • Supervise and train/develop the US income tax team


  • Responsible for maintaining an efficient tax structure that is aligned with the Company's strategic objectives


  • Responsible for working with Treasury to ensure efficient cash repatriation and funding


  • Manage the international portion of the company's U.S. income tax return, including international income tax forms and disclosures


  • Lead the U.S. controversy, including preparation of responses and supporting work papers, responding to IDRs, tax notices, and leading interactions with the tax authorities


  • Identify, evaluate, monitor, and advise management on the income tax consequences of legislative developments, as well as current and proposed transactions


  • Oversee tax due diligence, structuring and integration for acquisitions and divestitures



  • Review of quarterly worldwide forecast for tax provision purposes to ensure correct mix of earnings by legal entity


  • Manage compliance related to Latin America market


  • Identify opportunities for process improvement; leverage automation to drive efficiency and effectiveness both independently and through collaboration with other tax and technology specialists


  • Collaborate and partner across corporate finance, legal, treasury, human resources and other functional groups within the organization on new global initiatives to advise on the income tax impacts and tax strategies


  • Develop and assist with process improvements and automation within the income tax department


  • Special projects, as needed


Qualifications:


  • 10 years relevant income tax experience in public accounting firm and/or high technology industry - Big 4 experience is a plus


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, strong accounting skills; MST/MBA tax or CPA a plus


  • Strong leader that can coach and develop the tax team


  • Strong technical knowledge in ASC 740 and U.S. taxation


  • Strong accounting, project management, analytical and tax technical skills


  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as in a team environment.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Working knowledge of US international tax concepts and tax reform legislations


  • Strong Excel and Alteryx skills, experience with online team communication tools, intellectual curiosity, and outcome accountability


  • Strong computer skills utilizing MS Office; OneSource income tax provision; knowledge of Oracle, Essbase and Business Objects a plus


  • Strong data analyst skills to pull and validate data


  • Ability to identify issues, ask the right questions, make independent decisions, and provide alternative solutions


  • Excellent workpaper skills that result in audit ready documentation


  • Ability to work as a team member, building productive relationships throughout the organization


  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects and see projects through completion


  • Professionally curious individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills


  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills enabling effective cross-functional communication
