Overview

SJS Executives doing business as SJS Industrial is seeking a seasoned and professional Aluminum Welder, preferably a veteran Navy or Marines Corps welder who served as a Hull Maintenance Technician (HMT), to perform Intermediate Level aluminum welding repairs on military landing craft in Oceanside, California.

Responsibilities

The SJS Industrial Aluminum Welder will collaborate with and support active Navy and Marine Corps maintenance personnel and welders to:

• Perform welding processes on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies in accordance with required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys.


• Weld inserts to repair metal that shows excessive wear or corrosion.


• Determine layouts and weld parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.


• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures.


• Occasionally monitor performance of and coach or mentor junior personnel, including providing oversight of procedures completed by or being executed by junior personnel.


• Alert shop supervisor to low levels of inventory materials, supplies and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a timely fashion to enable restocking without workflow disruption.


• Observe all applicable federal, state, local and shop-specific safety and hazardous materials handling procedures.


• Provide the SJS Industrial Program Manager with regular updates about work progress, issues encountered, if any, etc.


• Perform other Intermediate Level maintenance-related welding repair tasks as assigned.

Regular and dependable attendance and timecard completion at this job are core requirements for continued employment because landing craft must be restored to fully operational status in time for use during scheduled unit operations and all work hours must be tracked.

Because all work will be performed in a collaborative team setting, the SJS Industrial Aluminum Welder should have professional skills in interpersonal communication, be comfortable working with a team and understand the protocols involved in speaking to senior company officials and/or military leadership.

Qualifications

• Must know how to perform, and have experience performing, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).


• Must know how to perform, and have experience performing, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).


• Be proficient in welding 5000 series aluminum (all Thickness), corrosion resistant steel (CRES) and Inconel components.


• Minimum of 3 years' experience working on aluminum welding repairs for airframes or watercraft.


• Must be qualified in accordance with the S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 military standard or possess equivalent certifications from the American Welding Society, such as the series 60,000 to 65,000 and series 5,000 aluminum certifications


• OSHA 10, OSHA 40 and/or OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus.


• Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications.


• Government representative acceptance of your resume, certifications, experience and credentials is required for this job.


• Active SECRET Personnel Clearance (PCL) is a requirement.


• Veteran hiring preference.


• Must have a clean personal record in law enforcement databases to be able to pass the military base's Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background review process to access the base and work site.


• Must possess own basic welding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).


• Must pass SJS's background check.


• Must pass drug screening.
