Production Technician I, Dispense Liquid Handling at Bio-Rad Laboratories in Hercules, California

Job Description:

The Production Technician is responsible for supporting multiple Chemistry groups with the formulation and testing of buffer and bulk solutions in compliance with established GMP procedures and ensuring products are of consistent high quality.

Responsibilities


  • Formulates buffer and bulk solutions to support multiple Chemistry groups according to the production schedule.

  • Chemicals must be accurately weighed with an analytical balance with a (+/- 0.2% tolerance).

  • Follows current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and standard operating procedures.

  • Documents production by completing forms, reports, logs, and records of equipment and batches.

  • Performs basic Quality Control testing such as pH, conductivity, and specific gravity.

  • Prepares for production by reviewing production schedule; assembling and weighing materials and supplies.

  • Operation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of basic lab equipment such as magnetic stirrers, overhead stirrers, pH meter, conductivity meter, peristaltic pumps, manual and semi-automatic pipettes.

  • Performs basic calculations for determining concentrations, dilutions, and process yields.

  • Performs aseptic filtering and dispensing procedures.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment following 5S.

  • May perform simple to moderately complex lab experiments.

  • Explore and identify creative solutions to improve current production processes.

  • May provide basic assistance/training to new employees and/or new processes.

  • Perform ERP (SAP) system transactions.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • 0-2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability weigh small/large qty of materials, as well handle large carboy/containers (up to 200L).

  • Additional technical training/coursework beyond high school preferred.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to operate simple lab/test equipment.

  • Basic math, problem solving and computer skills.

  • Transaction in SAP a plus.

  • Experience in liquid handling techniques such as pipettes and automated dispensing instruments such as M&O Perry, Tecan, Hamilton, and Bechman Instruments preferred.

  • Utilize basic technical skills to troubleshoot equipment.

  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task, in a fast-paced environment.

  • Accurate and detail-oriented.

  • Team player/ flexible/ attentive to detail and quality minded.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, with overtime and weekends as needed.
