Job Description:

Primary Functions:

This position is responsible for all casting procedures and application/approval of soft goods. This position will provide assistance to the provider whenever needed, to expedite the patient care process. This position may also require data collection for patient intake, preparing patient for provider visit, and assisting provider during basic procedures.

Monday-Friday rotating hours depending on clinic need.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

a. Application and removal of all types of casts, splints and soft goods. Modify casts as needed in clinic and in hospital when necessary for the patient benefit.

b. Instruct patient, parents/legal guardians in appropriate use and care of casts and Orthopaedic equipment.

c. Responsible for inventory of all casting materials, splints and soft goods.

d. Capturing and entering patient information into EMR.

e. Ensuring appropriate documentation such as x-rays and laboratory reports are available for provider's review.

f. Rooming of patients into exam rooms with preparation for exam and assisting provider with exam.

g. Ensuring accurate ICD-9 codes are recorded.

h. Assist the provider with procedures as necessary.

i. Under the direction the provider will schedule diagnostic tests to include pre-authorization and notification of patient.

j. Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms.

k. Cross cover other clinical departments when necessary.

Additional Requirements:

1. Demonstrates service oriented approach when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff.

2. Participates in professional in-services, departmental and clinical staff meetings.

3. Demonstrates universal precautions and proper handling of bio-hazardous waste.

4. Perform other duties as assigned.

5. Practices principles of AIDET

6. Adheres to Standard Business Practices.

7. Exhibits excellent customer service skills.

8. Able to work flexible hours including evening hours and possibly weekend rotation based on clinic need.

Requirements:

High School Diploma required

Current BLS certification through American Heart Association required.
Certification by The National Board of Certification for Orthopaedic Technologists preferred.
