Job Summary
Data Guidance and Governance Manager
As a member of the Data Guidance & Governance Team within First American's Information Security department, this role involves the following responsibilities:
Managing the data remediation team and serving as the central point of contact for organizational data stewards
Providing data guidance to various organizational data related initiatives
Overseeing alerts triggered by the automated detection of sensitive information stored as unstructured data residing on the First American network
Investigation and remediation of false positive alerts in accordance with established data protection business processes
Supporting data remediation team to perform the timely classification and remediation of files containing sensitive information
Responding in a timely manner to questions from end users by sharing accurate information about data protection policies, standards and business processes
Acting as a subject matter expert to business and technical stakeholders on all aspects of data guidance & governance
Generating metric-based reports that enable information security leadership to measure the effectiveness of data protection controls
Working with data security engineers to continuously improve the accuracy of RegEx formulas
Improve the data security posture of the organization
Skills
Outstanding written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with end users across the business
Excellent analytical skills required to identify sensitive data within relevant files
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements pertinent to the financial services industry (e.g. CCPA, PCI-DSS, SOX, GLBA)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to leverage tools such as ServiceNow and Microsoft MCAS/AIP to detect and label files containing sensitive data
Basic understanding of key data protection concepts such as data governance, classification, privacy levels and sensitive data types
Proficiency with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Teams
Familiarity with business process modeling concepts such as process flows, user stories, use case definitions and functional requirements
Awareness of basic data classification and privacy concepts such as NPI, PI, Confidential data classifications
Education
Minimum of 7 years' Enterprise IT experience, with at least 3 years as an information security professional
Experience working in the financial services or mortgage lending industry is desirable
