Manager, Financial Reporting (International Insurance)

The Prudential International Insurance (PII) Finance Segment supports the financial reporting and analysis of Prudential’s insurance operations in Asia, Latin America, and Africa.  The team is seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting to oversee the accounting and reporting functions for the overall Pru International Insurance Holding Co. and corporate reporting and analysis.  The successful candidate will lead the team that is focused on reporting, Accounting Policy issues, and capital transactions each quarter.  This candidate will have the opportunity to expand his/her skill set in a broad array of accounting and financial reporting areas and will also learn about Prudential International Insurance’s market and products. The position requires significant interaction with various other PII teams, senior management, Corporate Controllers, Finance Shared Services, Risk Management, Global Portfolio management, Accounting Policy, Actuarial, Legal, Tax, and our internal and external auditors. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:


  • Oversee PII’s regulatory financial filings and PIIH board materials by liaising with senior management and creating the reporting and analysis


  • Quarterly review of financial statements and production of quarterly results for US GAAP including the quarterly financial supplements, MD&A and earnings prep package


  • Quarterly review of GAAP disclosure activities in consolidated 10Q and 10K SEC filings


  • Lead the creation and presentation of the quarterly capital transactions review


  • Analysis and resolution of technical accounting and reporting issues as they arise pertaining to country operations 


  • Coordinate with local teams of the international operations for various deliverables


  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key functional departments, including but not limited to P&A, Treasurer, Investment, Corporate Controllers, Actuarial, Risk Management, Tax, Legal and Internal/external Auditors


  • Participate in special projects or financial reporting initiatives


  • Direct and indirect supervision and development of the team 


  • Assist with various ad-hoc initiatives for Senior Management as necessary


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance (MBA a plus)


  • Minimum 6 years accounting/financial reporting experience (CPA and Big 4 experience a plus)


  • Strong understanding of life insurance and USGAAP and Statutory accounting a plus


  • Highly motivated, proactive, detail oriented, team player, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities


  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary with an ability to interact effectively with all levels of management in Newark and our international operations.


  • Strong analytical and organizational skills


  • Easily establishes a rapport with others, as well as builds effective business partnerships


  • Requires a high ethical standard and ability to work with confidential information


  • Able to achieve results through influence without direct reporting lines or control of resources


  • Overtime required during peak reporting periods
