Job Summary


The Epilepsy NeuroGenetics Initiative (ENGIN) within the Division of Neurology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is recruiting a Manager of Clinical Program Operations. ENGIN is a Frontier Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia that integrates genomic medicine into the clinical care of children with epilepsy. This clinical-translational-research program provides exceptional clinical care to children with epilepsy and includes a translational research program to facilitate the development of new therapies. As a dedicated epilepsy genetics program, ENGIN coordinates all clinical and research expertise in epilepsy genetics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The ENGIN Manager of Clinical Program Operations will be a highly motivated, team-oriented individual and leader who will be responsible for oversight of all program clinical operations; leading, managing and improving all clinical and provider workflows for patient care; and supervision of clinical and support staff. The Manager of Clinical Program Operations will serve as an interface between ENGIN and its partners, including collaborators, industry partners, referring providers, and patients and families. The Manager of Clinical Program Operations will work with the Directors of the ENGIN Program as well as Division of Neurology leadership.

Job Responsibilities


Clinical Operations


  • The leader is responsible for overseeing systems and workflows for ENGIN clinics and inpatient consult service

  • Provides clinical oversight for providers, to ensure delivery of highest quality of patient care and patient safety.

  • Develops and implements systems to monitor care and processes to ensure provider adherence to clinical protocols and consistent standard of care

  • Oversees the use, maintenance, and optimization of program systems, databases, and tools including REDCap, QlikSense, and EPIC. Oversees the collection and reporting of performance metrics

  • Responsible for managing patient flow; patient, provider, and clinic feedback; improving access, efficiency, and patient and family satisfaction.

  • Develops and leads clinical quality improvement projects

  • Leads initiatives to promote clinical program growth, improvement, and sustainability

  • Establishes partnerships with and presents Program to internal and external audiences.



Job Responsibilities


Administrative Leadership


  • Recruits, hires, and manages clinical staff within the program including Genetic Counselors, Genetic Counseling Assistants, and Office Coordinator

  • Enforces and assists in interpretation of CHOP's HR policies, including employee relations, rules of conduct, disciplinary action, grievance procedures, and other personnel issues.

  • Responsible for payroll processing, employee evaluations and reclassifications, and promotions.

  • Responsible for training, coaching, staff recognition and morale issues

Communication


  • Leads communication efforts within and across the clinical team.

  • Serves as liaison between Program, Divisional leadership, administration, and relevant clinical and research personnel related to clinical operations.

  • Serves as primary contact and organizer for outreach activities such as grand rounds, lectures, and events such as education days, symposia, town halls, family meetings, and Program meetings

  • Communicates program goals across institution.


Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations


Required Education and Experience


Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Required Experience:


  • Seven (7) years of clinical program related experience

  • Three (3) years of managerial or supervisory experience


Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic


Preferred Education: Master's degree

Preferred Experience:


  • Five (5) years of managerial or supervisory experience

  • Intermediate proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office) including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
