Director of Creative Content at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma

Job Description:

The Director of Creative Content is a motivated, passionate and talented content created responsible for producing dynamic and engaging visual content (i.e. graphics, motion graphics, photos and video) to strategically promote and enhance the brand of the Oklahoma Sooners. This position will report to the Director of Digital Media and primarily work with the OU men’s and women’s basketball programs, with other duties as assigned.

This position will collaborate with assigned teams as well as the department’s external units (Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design and SoonerVision) to coordinate strategy, production and execution of creative content aimed at engaging recruits, fans and donors while maintaining a consistent brand and tone across all platforms. The position is expected to stay on top of the latest trends and advancements to keep OU at the forefront of the digital media landscape.

Essential Functions:


  • Lead creative strategic planning, project management and digital design efforts for the OU men’s and women’s basketball programs 


    • Manage day-to-day graphic and motion graphic design needs to engage recruits, fans and donors 

    • Deliver compelling visual content to maximize reach, engagement and impact across social media platforms 

    • Collaborate with department’s external units on creative strategy, branding and marketing initiatives 

    • Develop and oversee year-round social content calendar 

    • Shoot and edit photos of practice, games and other events 

    • Maintain full understanding of each social media platform and how to effectively engage followers 

    • Ensure all content adheres to OU brand identity, standards and guidelines 

    • Consistently brainstorm fresh ideas and new ways to grow, enhance and maximize OU’s digital efforts 



  • Other duties as necessary 

 

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, AND:



  • 18-36 months  experience related to graphic design, motion graphic design, digital/social media and/or another related industry.


Skills:


  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere, etc. 

  • Expansive knowledge of each social media platform and how to use each effectively to engage followers

  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment that often requires irregular hours, nights, weekends and travel

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communications skills

  • Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate and work effectively with diverse constituents

  • Detail-oriented for accuracy of information, data, grammar and brand standards

Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to stand, engage in repetitive motions, walk, communicate, hear and see, including color, depth perception and clarity.

Departmental Preferences:



  • Previous experience working in a college or professional sports environment.

  • Ability to challenge the status quo while still maintaining the integrity of the brand.

  • Strong initiative, goal-oriented and self-motivated.

  • Working knowledge of university, conference and NCAA rules.
