We’re looking for a full-time IT Software Engineering Team Leader to lead and grow a team, while directing and coordinating software development activities with Garmin's agile scrum teams. Other essential functions include:
Supervisor
Directly supervise team members with daily regular interactions, including managing teams work load
Oversee training, mentoring and overall professional growth of associates
Create performance evaluation; review and administer with manager assistance as needed
Planning and Delivery execution
Accountable for the delivery and quality of service of the team
Coordinate and participate in generating requirements and designs for a set of web solutions in accordance with Garmin’s standards.
Plan and schedule work, including the allocation of resources and planning team members’ work
Maintain, improve, and extend existing software
Oversee the development of features, tools, and/or technologies associated with the set of applications owned by the team
Provide operational leadership for day-to-day activities and strategic direction
Monitor progress of the team in meeting deliverables and schedule compliance
Develop and continuously improve the way in which the team delivers
Able to discern when to escalate issues to management
Team Health
Motivate team to achieve optimum results as it relates to productivity quality and performance
Set the tone for the team environment and build healthy team relationships.
Recruit, develop, and retain associates to build a high performing team
Use metrics to analyze and improve team health and delivery
Construct and communicate data report to upper management about the team and its improvements
Other Responsibilities:
Design and develop web applications and web services as part of an Agile SDLC
Review the code and design of developers on the team
Is on-call to support the stability and quality of the applications owned by its team
Manage the resolution of major incidents
Work with Human Resources to address employee relations issues as needed
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or another substantially similar field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and education. Other requirements include:
5 years of relevant experience in web applications development
Previous experience and/or demonstrated ability to effectively manage technical resources
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work well with others under challenging circumstances
Candidates with significant experience in Java Web Applications Development and Agile methodologies are highly preferred!
