Milk Specialties Global has an exciting opportunity available for an Assistant Maintenance Manager in our Mountain Lake, MN manufacturing facility.


The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring all equipment and buildings are in top operating condition so that the plant is operating in the most efficient and cost effective manner. The Maintenance Supervisor accomplishes this through the proper training, prioritization, and implementation of programs and procedures while using the strengths of the Maintenance Technicians to the best advantage of the company. Responsibilities:



  • The number one priority of the Assistant Maintenance Manager is to follow any and all safety procedures, and ensure all direct reports are doing the same.

  • Ensure any and all PPE is issued and is being worn properly. 

  • Actively participate in Safety Training and ensure Maintenance Technicians are fully trained in all safety related practices as it relates to their roles.

  • Pay particular attention to the use of company lock out/tag out programs, and ensure proper and consistent use.

  • Schedule, supervise, and perform any and all maintenance functions related to all machinery and buildings at the plant. Determine the most efficient, cost effective, way to accomplish this, either through the use of Milk Specialties Global Maintenance Personnel, outside contractors, or a combination of the two.

  • Develop, implement and monitor a Preventive Maintenance Program throughout the plant.

  • Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts, ensuring the plant has an adequate supply of items necessary to make repairs/replacements in a cost effective and time efficient manner.

  • Identify necessary education, and further development programs for Maintenance Technicians to ensure these individuals are up to date on new procedures and information in the industry.

  • Coordinate effectively with other departments; primarily production to resolve issues and develop a proactive approach to keeping the plant operating at all times with the objective to fully develop a complete understanding by all Maintenance team members regarding the need for a “sense of urgency” when production lines/departments are down.

  • Actively manage identified Key Performance Indicator’s for the Maintenance Department.

  • Ensure compliance with all company, local, state, and federal safety and regulatory policies relating to the Maintenance Department.

  • The Assistant Maintenance Manager will aid in the proper development of other team members within their scope of responsibility.

  • The Assistant Maintenance Manager will be an active participant in the implementation and the consistent enforcement of work rules, policies, protocols, specifications and requirements identified by Milk Specialties Global.

  • Maintain awareness of new technologies that will improve overall plant performance.

  • Assist Production Manager on equipment and process changes as needed.

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements:



  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.

  • 2 - 3 years of previous supervisory experience.

  • Chief B Boiler’s License required

  • Project management skills.

  • The ability to analyze and solve maintenance related issues in an efficient and concise manner.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong knowledge of computer software applications.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Be on call for issues that may arise outside of working hours.
