Job Description:

Summary

Utilizes imaging equipment to conduct radiological diagnostic procedures as needed during orthopedic cases and pain management injections.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  1. Operates computer and radiographic equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body, under the supervision of a physician. Performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.

  2. Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patient's needs and providing patient education.

  3. Records appropriate chart notations in Patient Information System and/or patient file. Prepares and maintains records and files as directed; stores and maintains films according to department policy and procedures.

  4. Practices safety measures in radiography and environment of care. Maintains and tests equipment to ensure proper functionality.

  5. Attends continuing education courses s requested. Attends annual OSHA training programs. Attends all regular staff meetings as required.

  6. Monitors exposure doses of staff and assists with care of radiography gowns, supplies and equipment.

  7. Maintains patient confidentiality.

Other Duties

Effectively operate radiologic equipment. Ability to evaluate imaging results to ensure appropriate diagnostic information is obtained. Ability to evaluate, synthesize and communicate diagnostic information to the physician. Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and health care team. All employees have the responsibility of reporting adverse events or adverse incidents

AAS Radiologic Technology required

AART registration required

NYS License

2-3 years clinical experience in orthopedics preferred

Physical Demands

Activity includes balancing, lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, constant walking and heavy work. Finger and hand dexterity and visual and aural acuity and olfactory acuity to recognize changes in patient's condition.

Communication

Internal Contacts: Physicians, nursing staff, office staff, Excelsior Orthopedics surgery coordinators and clinical staff
External Contacts: Patients, family members, primary care physician offices, vendors and home care agency staff

Work Environment

Subject to environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals, radiation and blood-borne pathogens.
