The Shift Manager is primarily responsible for supervision and operations of assigned shift, ensuring efficiency, quality production, and safety of team members while adhering to Company policies and procedures.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction for assigned supervisors
Supervise plant operations including safety, production, quality, and employee relations
Develop, lead, train and coach supervisors and production employees
Enforce Company policies, procedures, regulations and practices, including GMP’s
Maximize yield and throughputs, minimizing waste and unnecessary production costs
Meet turnover goals, assisting HR with management of appropriate staffing levels
Ensure timely order fulfillment, meeting customer standards and expectations
Inspect production processes and products, ensuring compliance with USDA and Company standards
Manage relationship with USDA Inspectors and Quality Assurance
Assist with interview, selection, training, onboarding and coaching of new and existing supervisors and production team members
All other relevant duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Poultry Science, Business Management or other closely related field of study or equivalent experience in lieu of education
2+ year(s) production experience; poultry industry experience preferred
Proficient technology, computer, mathematics and analysis skills
Ability to create and comprehend complex Excel spreadsheets
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent leadership skills
Physical/Environmental Factors:
Repetitive hand motions, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs
Stand and walk on concrete majority of shift
Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, bend and lift various weights as needed
Occasionally climb ladders, steep inclines, and enter confined spaces
Exposure to cold, humid environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees
Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels
Exposure to strong odors, including ammonia
Exposure to slippery and wet conditions
