SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Serve as a Senior Product Scientist on the Family Care Flushable Wipes (FW) R&E team. The focus will be on Quality Transformation product leadership for FW while also supporting the future Family Care transition. The role is critical for delivering continuous improvement in current product and future innovation to an aggressively growing business.

Incumbent reports to the Flushable Wipes Insights to Commercialization Manager and receives specific objectives to drive business results. This position requires an individual with a passion for organization, development, and the ability to think customer. Qualified candidates will be comfortable leading program initiatives while also being able to lead small projects in optimization. They will build strong relationships with Product Supply, Quality, Product & Consumer Services as well as the Brand teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead product scientist focused on the Quality Transformation for Flushable Wipes, taking learnings from Personal Care and led by the Quality team.

  • Lead or support a team toward product solutions to unmet customer needs in the optimization space.

  • Determine and succinctly communicate status of projects or programs via e-mail, project updates and management reviews.

  • Develop objectives, success criteria, timelines and learning plans to integrate into project teams to drive critical milestones and priorities.

  • Develop and manage the budget and resource forecast relating to areas of ownership.

  • Effectively flow to work as priorities dictate within the team/sector and be self-motivated to seek out business opportunities that may have yet to be uncovered.

  • Own or support the team in the ownership of material and or product specifications.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:


  • Work with category leadership to deliver upon business objectives.

  • Capable and willing to challenge cross functional expertise to deliver the project.

  • Ensure documentation of research, product/process development, quality, and regulatory occurs in a timely manner as it applies to the project.

  • Provide direction and coaching to project team members and junior members of the team.

  • Ensure the appropriate and effective protection for proprietary information.

  • Support the implementation of business practices within the R&E organization including Portfolio Management, LEAN and resource management.

  • Ensure all work complies with corporate safety, regulatory, product safety and sustainability requirements.

  • Manage teams and self in accordance with the One K-C Behaviors.

  • Communicate appropriately with all customers, conducting all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty to build an unimpeachable business reputation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required:  Bachelor’s degree in a science/engineering discipline.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

7+ years related experience or another equivalent combination of education and experience.

Critical Skills/Qualifications:

Demonstrated leadership skills providing work direction to a multi-functional team including internal and external resources. Critical to this position is the ability to influence people at all organizational levels, drive decision-making and execute complex projects on demanding timelines. Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate ideas and opportunities to leadership.

OTHER SKILLS:


  • Prior experience with Family Care brands and/or wipes technology

  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions/departments to drive balanced business decisions

  • Experience with key quality and product systems such as EtQ, PLM and FAST for internal candidates

  • Ability/willingness to make (or drive to) tough, informed decisions

  • Product attributes/quality and testing

  • Design capabilities including safety

  • Research & Engineering systems

  • Trial planning and implementation

  • Business unit communications / partnering

  • Corporation policies and procedures

  • Laws and government regulations

  • Engineering economics

  • Appropriation and budget systems

  • Ability to travel at least 15% of the time

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Travel at least 15% of the work time. Travel may also include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations. Ability to effectively communicate to individuals and groups.  Ability to work under normal office conditions. Ability to work in manufacturing sites.
