Job Description:

Medline Industries, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Engineer in the Sterile Procedure Tray ("SPT") Division, located in Waukegan, IL. Under limited supervision, the Engineer will plan, organize and control increased productivity projects from conceptual stages through production cycles in order to optimize profit and meeting marketing, financial and corporate growth objectives. The Engineer will investigate current operations practices and scope, develop and implement changes that will improve operational productivity.

The responsibilities include:


  • Perform assignments to develop new and/or enhance existing procedures, statistical analysis, inspections, and validation activities. Contribute to the organization's process improvement activities. Recommend and implement productivity improvement solutions after performing engineering analysis utilizing work measurement (time study) and statistical analysis.
  • Perform system, material and equipment validations. Prepare, perform and conduct quality protocols for new packaging material and equipment. Ensure that new products meet the strict quality and performance standards set by the division (i.e. burst testing & tensile tests). Conduct training, when appropriate, on quality assurance and/or engineering concepts and tools, including but not limited to inspection, measurement and test methods.
  • Analyze, review, recommend and implement technological solutions and innovative techniques to reduce Medline's expenses and improve cost structure while maintaining or improving quality.
  • Lead multiple small to medium scale projects from concept to realization involving individuals from multiple departments and disciplines. Perform project management functions. Plan, prioritize, allocate resources and solicit feedback from stakeholders and subject matter experts. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships and keep stakeholders informed of progress. Provide guidance and work hand in hand with Directors, Warehouse Managers, Supervisors and hourly team members to successfully execute project plans on time and within budget.
  • Support quality and safety initiatives to improve plant metrics. Identify areas of improvement and develop possible solutions. Perform quality and safety related assignments as needed.
  • Manage capital projects, including justification, planning and execution. Submit CapEx requisitions and coordinate AP paperwork. Communicate, coordinate and schedule work with outside vendors and internal stakeholders.

EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Industrial Engineering/Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent experience.

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing/warehouse enviornment.

ADDITIONAL QUALICAITIONS:

  • Intermediate skill level in computer and systems use, including MS Office.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification/training in lean manufacturing tools and concepts.
  • Experience with facility layout and design of product flow using AutoCAD.
  • Basic AS400 or ERP systems knowledge.
