Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Collaborates with doctors and staff to provide exceptional care, assisting during exams, diagnostic testing, and treatments.
Provides patient and family education, health, and medication education, treatment, and discharge planning.
Conducts accurate clinical assessment, collects, synthesizes, and accurately analyzes patient data from multiple and sometimes conflicting sources to develop the patient's individualized plan of care. Integrates cultural differences in the plan of care.
Prepares an effective transfer/discharge plan. Seeks validation of clinical judgment from more experienced clinicians.
Completes Behavioral Health Assessments demonstrating basic knowledge of interviewing, diagnostic, organization and writing skills within designated timeframe.
Prepares, administers, and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications/treatments in accordance with the policy.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Oversees direct patient care, performs patient assessments, Behavioral Health assessments, eligibility for 5150 designation, and ensures safety at all times.
What You Will Bring
Required Experience and Competencies:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of California.
3 years of experience as an RN in an acute adult outpatient or inpatient psychiatric unit.
Background in psychiatric and medical-surgical illnesses and treatments.
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to the California Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, the ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing.
Background in psychiatric and medical-surgical illnesses and treatments
Demonstrated ability to independently assess, evaluate and interpret clinical information and care planning.
Demonstrated basic understanding, knowledge, performance, communication, and documentation of Behavioral Health Assessments, Mental status exams, Suicide Risk Assessments, Psychotropic medications, Insurance authorization/Medical, and Biopsychosocial Assessment.
Current RN License in good standing.
Successful completion of Assaultive Patient training within 1 month of hire.
American Heart Association (AHA)-recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider.
Preferred Talent Assets:
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).
3+ years of directly related RN experience in area of specialty.
