Overview
Oversight of day-to-day activities for property estimators. Assign cost estimate/diagram tasks, monitor workloads and productivity, and provide guidance to attain quantity metrics. Conduct quality audits and discuss results with staff. Provide leadership for change management and serve/lead on projects to improve property valuation services. Supervisor responsibilities to include staffing, training and development, performance management, and work force planning.
Responsibilities
* Supervisor/Manager responsibilities may include all of the following:
o Staffing needs, to include interviewing and onboarding for new employees.
o Training and development, as well as coaching and motivation for staff.
o Performance Management, goal setting, employee engagement, and salary administration.
o Workforce Management to include unit equipment, software, and space needs, approving time off and overtime usage, and budget recommendations.
* Oversight of day-to-day activities for property estimators. Assign cost estimate/diagram tasks, monitor workloads and productivity, and provide guidance to attain quantity metrics.
* Responsible for the attainment of quality metrics developed for property estimators. Conduct quality audits and provide results/discussions.
* Provide leadership for changes, make suggestions, and serve/lead on projects that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of property valuation services. Complete all projects on time and on budget.
* Provide technical property valuation knowledge for internal customers and staff.
* Accountable for external vendor partner relationships relating to the Property Valuation Team, including the optimization of shared workflows.
* Review vendor contracts, including statements of work, and recommend appropriate modifications.
* Respond to inquiries, questions, and complaints from customers of the Property Valuation Team, including Sales, Underwriting and Risk Control. Respond to inquiries from Claims on property valuation issues.
* Review cost estimates and identify training needs for the Property Valuation Team, Sales and Marketing, Underwriting, Risk Control, etc. Prepare and provide reports detailing findings.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree is preferred. Equivalent years of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
* Evidence of continuing education in the insurance industry is desired.
* Typically, at least four years' experience in a property valuation function is required.
* Prior leadership skills including an ability to mentor and coach others.
* Demonstrated people relationship building skills, including strong listening skills.
* Ability to effectively communicate, including technical knowledge, in both written and verbal formats.
* Proven time management and detailed organization skills.
* Ability to lead in a changing environment.
* Problem solving, negotiation and creative thinking skills.
* Proficient knowledge of general construction principles.
* Proficient knowledge of property valuation tools and techniques.
* Ability to travel as necessary.
