Working directly under the Senior Manager, eCommerce Merchandising, the Gas/Spec Gas Equipment Merchandising Manager is responsible for implementing the merchandising strategy for our gas and spec gas equipment product categories. The Gas/Spec Gas Equipment Merchandising Manager will ensure those product categories are presented in a compelling way to optimize customers' discovery and selection of products and to drive revenue, gross profit dollars, and customer acquisition.
The Gas/Spec Gas Equipment Merchandising Manager will partner with several inside (internal) departments and business units to acquire the necessary marketing content to ensure all products are presented according to the vision of the gas and spec gas equipment category strategy. This is a complex role requiring diligent management of multiple concurrent work queues to ensure the category vision is achieved in all online presentations (eCommerce, digital catalog, etc).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Collaborate with leaders of the following product lines: PCGs, Lasers, Excimer, General Mixtures, EPA protocols, Semiconductor, Hydrocarbon Blends, Stable Isotopes, EET, MEET, Pure Gases, Pure Hydrocarbons, Rare Gases, Process Chemicals and SG Equipment to ensure all necessary content (copy, photography, attribute data) is gathered and normalized in accordance with our product category plan to create an effortless customer experience.
Oversee the addition of new items to the website ensuring all products are displayed in accordance with the category strategy.
Collaborate with onsite search to develop new search terms and ensure customers can easily find products.
Research assigned products to develop an understanding of how they work and how customers use them in order to ensure an effortless customer selection experience.
Analyze customer feedback to make necessary changes and improvements to assigned product categories to enhance our ability to promote and sell gases and gas-related equipment.
Use available analytics to maximize search results and optimize customer's browse experience.
Work with other members of the Merchandising team to lead cross-selling recommendations appropriate for multiple industry applications.
Identify, monitor, and document competitive market activity by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc. Ensure our eCommerce site experience exceeds customer expectations.
Attends and participates in specialty/industrial/medical gas and equipment training sessions and seminars
Lead and/or support merchandising improvement initiatives and other special projects

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors of Science Degree in life sciences or chemistry or demonstrated commercial experience within a strategic market
5-10 years experience in sales or marketing within the life science, bio-science, pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor or similar technical sales position selling hazardous materials, chemicals, equipment, process control devices or process analyzers.
Knowledge of the chemical characteristics of oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, syngas, carbon monoxide, steam and ozone
Manufacturing of specialty gases (including pure gases, gas blends, hydrocarbon blends and reactive gas blends), medical and industrial cylinder gases, bulk atmospheric gases and specialty gas equipment.
Advanced experience in Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics
Website content management systems and e-commerce tools experience (hybris, Solr, Monetate, etc.) experience preferred
Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially Access and Excel) required and G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites)
Able to think both creatively and critically. Willing to think outside the box and challenge the status quo, while also fairly evaluating all possible solutions in making strategic decisions
Able to manage through ambiguous and subjective situations, including balancing operational efficiency and data analysis with high quality standards and a sense of what is right for the customer
