City Experiences is seeking an Event Coordinator  in Chicago.

About the Opportunity:


The successful Event Coordinator will vividly describe products, accurately answer questions, and assist our internal and external clients alike while maintaining an upbeat attitude. This role will provide you with the opportunity to expand your knowledge in the field of sales, hospitality & event management and seeks to prepare you for your future career goals.


About You:


This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Gain first-hand sales knowledge working with clients on the different City Cruises brand experiences in Chicago.

  • Learn the basics of business communication and professional

  • Develop your communication, organization and time-management skills as well as strengthen your self- confidence

  • Address all questions and concerns for booked clients

  • Finalize client bookings by securing final payments and event logistics

  • Work side by side with Account Managers, Restaurant Managers and all departments as needed

  • Work directly with clients on their day of event details, schedule of events & logistics

  • Be on site for events as necessary


  • Sales/Client Services

    • Utilize learned “Sales Skills” to explain products or services and prices, and answer questions from guests on every call

    • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally

    • Obtain guest information and accurately enter orders into reservation systems

    • Deliver prepared sales talks in order to finalize events and upsells

    • Other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty




  • Accountabilities


    • The successful Event Coordinator will personally contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties.





  • Additional job duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Must be earning an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Public Relations, Communications, Hospitality, Tourism Management or any Business related field—candidates earning their Bachelor’s should preferably be in their junior or senior year

  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year guest service experience; call center/reservation experience a plus

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills – expression and comprehension

  • Must be reliable, responsible, punctual and dependable

  • Must be available to work at least 40 hours per week, including required weekend availability; schedule is subject to change weekly according to operational needs

  • Must possess a service orientation

  • Required to use computers and computer applications such as Microsoft Office

  • Must be careful about details and thorough in completing tasks

  • Must deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations
