New employees who join our company as Machine Operator I or II will start through a 75 day Temp to Hire process. Starting out employment will be through a staffing agency and after a successful 75 day performance reviews employees will be considered for converting to Full Time Sonoco.
Position: Machine Operator I & II
Reports to: Production Team Leader/ Section Leader
Temp To Hire Pay rate:$15-$17/hr plus $.25/hr shift differential
Full Time Pay Rate: $15.46-$17.48 plus $.25/hr shift differential (Increase once full time Sonoco)

Summary:
These roles perform machine operating duties of industrial equipment in a Wood Reel manufacturing plant. Machine Operator I & II's are responsible for working within a team to handle and process lumber, and running supporting equipment. Tasks within these roles can include but are not limited to Loading and Unloading Lumber from Lumber Processing equipment, building proper patterns out of lumber,activating semi-automated machinery, inspecting quality, and off stacking final product. These roles will have responsibility to perform to quality and safety standards while meeting production goals. The equipment being operated involves cutting, machining, and assembling lumber to produce components to manufacture Wood Reels used to package wire and cable. Common types of equipment used consists of some variation of Industrial saws, routers, nailers, spindles, scanners, stackers and conveying equipment.
