Job Purpose


We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering-Power Systems. The position will be based in our Headquarter, Reading, PA and will report to the VP Electronics and Systems Engineering. We are looking for an industry expert to play a lead role in Designing and delivering advanced Power Systems and control technologies to serve specialized sectors of the energy storage market.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated Power Electronics experience especially in power conversion systems using latest technologies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Direct accountability for Systems Engineering activities for NPIs (New Product Introduction); oversees Power Systems activities; manages development, control, and distribution of the systems documentation. Recommends, interprets, and implements the company product roadmap.

Plans and executes the Engineering department strategy to meet goals and expectations; gathers information, frames problems, devises/executes plans, tracks progress, and adjusts/measures success within scope of responsibility to improve development efforts as well as the organization.

Other core responsibilities


  • Apply state-of-the-art methods to the creation of power electronics products.

  • Conduct / support Risk Analyses, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

  • Provide technical leadership within the Innovation & Product Development organization

  • Investigate new technologies, projects, systems, or approaches, and advise management regarding feasibility and technical risk

  • Provide engineering expertise in the area of design, analysis, and testing of Power electronics systems (inverters/converters) from a few KW to MW.

  • Work on electrical power system and sub-system level design trades and develop requirements.

  • Define and perform electrical power system verification testing and analysis.

  • Knowledgeable in electrical safety and performance standards, such as UL1741SB, UL1998 or ISO13849; familiarity with the National Electric Code

  • Fosters collaboration with cross-functional teams and other leaders to drive work to completion and resolve issues

  • Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback

  • Maintains a safe and professional work environment


Qualifications



  • MSEE or PhD in Power Electronics or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and validating high power electronics products

  • Must have previous supervisory experience as manager or director of Engineering

  • Working knowledge and experience in control systems design, analysis, and simulation

  • Able to run major power system development projects from concept to manufacturing

  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB or SPICE

  • Familiarity with patent-related processes and the analysis of intellectual property

  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment

  • Familiarity with NEC, IEC, UL, and CSA regulatory standards

  • Grid tie inverter or charger for electrical vehicle experience a plus but not required
