Job Summary

The team member in this role is responsible for strategically developing and executing communication plans and content targeted to network providers in various segments. The segments including physicians and other types of practitioners, IPA/medical groups, and facilities across multiple lines of business. The outreach through provider communications is designed to engage, inform, guide, and communicate requirements for participation in Blue Shield and Blue Shield Promise provider networks. The networks provide high-quality services for our valued health plan members.

Communications are developed collaboratively and executed through a variety of channels. Content includes news and information about strategic business initiatives and programs, information about new networks, legal and regulatory requirements, updates on clinical programs, policy changes, alerts, and more.The Senior Provider Communications Specialist reports to the Senior Manager, Provider Communications.

Responsibilities


  • Partner with colleagues in Provider Partnerships and Network Management, the BlueCard team, Medical Care Solutions, Pharmacy Services, and other provider-facing teams, as well as other business and communications teams, to collaborate in planning, development, and delivery of professionally written and presented corporate communications.

  • Develop basic communications plans and detailed content in the form of letters, emails, brochures, web copy, and other professional communications formats, based on collaboration with multiple stakeholders and internal partners.

  • Perform heavy writing, editing, and preparation of content. Work with team members and internal partners to manage approvals, finalization of content, and delivery through multiple channels.

  • Using training and expertise, ensure content is tailored to meet the needs of each impacted audience within the provider networks: physicians and other practitioners, office staff, as well as administrators of IPA/medical groups, hospitals and other facilities who provide services for Blue Shield and Blue Shield Promise plan members.

  • Lead and participate in all phases of the communications project planning, development, and collaborative execution to achieve objectives and complete individual tasks.

  • Participate in enterprise project meetings and workgroups to represent the Provider Communications team and achieve responsibilities.

  • Ensure plans and content meet brand, legal and compliance requirements.

  • Work with Blue Shield's Creative Services Department, and Blue Shield's Digital Experience Department, to develop and deliver communications projects, as needed.

  • Provide regular internal reporting and documentation of activities for the purpose of effective planning and measurement of campaign and communications successes and keeping internal partners informed.









Knowledge and Experience


  • A BA/BS in communications, journalism, or BA/BS in business or marketing with training and experience in planning and content development for corporate communications. Training and/or familiarity with journalistic style of business writing and copyediting is preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in writing, developing, and delivering in-depth content for business-to-business communications and campaigns. Content and delivery channels may include letters, emails, brochures, online content, handouts, and other communications designed to achieve results specific to the project. Demonstrated ability to take complex program, policy and technical business information and simplify it to deliver clear and effective business messaging that engages audiences and clarifies the purpose and objectives of the communication.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in communicating business objectives to internal partners through written plans, such as PowerPoint presentations, talking points, frequently asked questions and other communications that help prepare internal teams to interact effectively with providers in response to inquiries about outreach communications/campaigns. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal partners in developing and delivering communications support.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in demonstrated ability to successfully work cross-functionally with multiple levels of subject matter experts, administrative experts, corporate colleagues, and leaders in delivering communications projects on time in a fast-paced environment, using multi-tasking skills and flexibility. Ability to influence others with positive results.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in demonstrated ability to successfully lead, organize and facilitate communications projects, working with individuals or workgroups in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional department participants.
