Job Description:

Under the supervision of the museum Chief of Security and Visitor Services Manager; monitor all patrons and artwork. Monitoring museum traffic in galleries and via security cameras. Assist with scheduling, training and mentoring, upwards to 70 security interns. Represent the museum by greeting/ providing a diverse, pleasant and approachable atmosphere. Assist with special events which includes heavy lifting, audio visual operations, and all of the listed above, provide information, and monitor museum flow/activities. Enforce policies and procedures, determine visitor attendance, handle merchandise sales, keep up to date on museum programs/activities via reservation programing, answer multi-line telephone and take detailed messages, receive appointments for staff members, collecting building keys from staff, sort incoming US and campus mail, advise guests of museum/campus parking. Advising building supervisor of pertinent information, etc. Assist with maintaining, clean, orderly, professional, museum environment, other duties as assigned.

These responsibilities include the ability to work flex shift scheduling which includes a combination of weekends, evenings and weekdays; 39 hours per week.

This is an on-campus position, located in Ithaca, New York.

Required Qualifications:

HS degree and at least 6 months to 1 year of experience in busy office setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Technology and classroom setting experience. Customer service experience. Experience working in a setting requiring security responsibilities, Security experience. Flexibility to cover additional work shifts as needed. Strong, professional communication skills and excellent customer service skills needed. Must enjoy working with people. -Needs to have ability to lift 50 lbs -Needs to have ability to use a ladder -Normal concentration -Limited exposure to hazards

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Cornell and the Ithaca area helpful, as well as an interest in and appreciation for art and education. Strong, professional communication skills and excellent customer service skills needed. Crowd management and diversity training/experience.
