Job Description:








Job Summary

The associate business analyst will be responsible for developing reports and simple analyses for management review. This individual will support the needs of key groups and stakeholders within the Blue Shield of California organization, including report and dashboard design and completion of ongoing/regular and ad hoc report requests efficiently and within set deadlines. Additionally, this individual will work cross-functionally with various internal groups to understand business KPIs, objectives and challenges and translate those needs into reports, dashboards and analytic projects, under the guidance of the Director, Insights and Analytics or Sr. Data Analysts on the team.

Responsibilities


  • Provides support for report development team for validation, testing, documentation and discrete tasks.

  • Builds analyses or presentations per specs provided by upper level Health Data Analyst, supervisor or manager.

  • Creates and distributes routine and ad hoc reports for various departments.

  • Assesses the validity, accuracy, completeness and reliability of data collected and reported.

  • Develops and conducts evaluations and studies within limited time frames and produces analyses that are easy for non-technical persons to understand.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience


  • Requires a BA/BS in science, social science, public health, MIS, computer science, health services research or business.

  • MS Office, esp. Excel and Access, Unix, SQL/PL-SQL, SAS, R, Python.

  • Must be able to use programs and scripts developed by others.

  • Requires broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education.

  • Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
