This position will provide comprehensive engineering support to Proterra’s VP of Engineering Operations and other site leadership team members. Proterra is seeking a dynamic, disciplined, vehicle engineer with experience in integration and application of new products to assume a role as Lead Engineer – Proterra Powered Integration. This role will lead a team of engineers that facilitate integration and application of Proterra technology in customer OEM applications. The projects may encompass vehicle and sub-system development, component integration, performance specification, data analysis, validation and production launch support.
About the Role – You will:
Lead sub-system and vehicle integration activity for Proterra Powered projects
Provide technical support to customer OEM and attend meetings and reviews scheduled with the OEM
Ensure timely closure of issues affecting quality, reliability and durability by utilizing problem solving skills to resolve customer test, build, and field incidents
Support customer design activities, such as application reviews, to balance packaging, design, manufacturability, quality, financial and service requirements
Support launch of new customer product content into the field
Work closely with the customer OEM to understand, document, and execute sub-system and vehicle requirements and specification
Communicate and interpret customer design requirements to internal development engineers
Ensure timely completion of development and integration deliverables necessary to meet planned production capacity ramp
Develop, support, and maintain application documentation for Proterra Powered products
Meet corporate objectives for cost, quality, and efficiency
Ensure engineering processes are consistently and effectively utilized
Other duties as assigned.

You will report to the VP, Engineering Operations and collaborate with other engineering team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, CA and Greenville, SC

Your Experience Includes:
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
10-15 years of progressive engineering experience with vehicle design, performance, or systems integration experience
Experience with commercial bus, heavy truck, automotive or similar applications
Experience with electric vehicles
Physical and Environmental Demands include but not limited to the following: lifting, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, standing, working from ladders, walking, working in extreme temperatures (cold/heat), confined quarters, excessive noise and high voltage.
