Job Description:

Position Summary

The Estimator coordinates the pricing and exchanges of various jobs based on a seasoned understanding of the products and how the project will function as a whole. This position also acts as the liaison between internal sales personnel, customers, and suppliers as LONG works to bid and work projects.

Responsibilities

• Gathers current plans, specifications and addenda to assigned projects
• Reviews specifications to insure compliance with acceptable manufacturers and reports non-compliance to salesmen
• Completes detailed takeoffs including quantity by size, style and tag number for heating, ventilating and air conditioning products from blueprints and specifications
• Prepares cost estimates and proposals for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and products, utilizing current pricing programs and/or pricing catalogs
• Assist sales engineer with equipment selections and pricing
• Communicates with manufactures for specification compliance and pricing
• Coordinate equipment size and delivery requirements with customers
• Corrects orders as required
• Performs detailed project cost management
• Abides by all LONG and OSHA safety regulations at all times
• Drives defensively and obeys all traffic laws including LONG safe driver policy (avoids all confrontational driving situations)
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or minimum of 3 years' experience selling and/or applying HVAC equipment
• Mechanical aptitude
• Excellent customer service skills
• Complete, thorough and detailed work with accuracy and consistency
• Excellent written, visual document formatting, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems
• Proficiency in basic math and elementary algebra
• Computer literacy

Working Conditions

Environment:

• Alcohol and Drug-free
• Largely indoors, but some outdoor exposure to cold and heat may be required

Physical Requirements

• Routine sitting, lifting, bending, and kneeling
• Ability to lift 50lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor
• Ability to climb ladders and perform job duties at heights
