The Materials & Process Engineer is part of an engineering team that develops additive layer based liquid imaging systems. The engineer's primary function is to create, develop and optimize materials for stereolithographic products involving photopolymeric resins or the process for high-speed filament printing.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Evaluate materials and develop processes to manufacture materials for use in products that must meet specialized design and performance specifications.
Participate in the development, processing and testing of materials to create new products.
Develop and optimize new uses for known materials.
Conduct screening experiments with the relevant stereolithography or filament printing equipment.
Independently test and analyze all analytical tests relevant to research and development.
Create full-scope research documentation including routine laboratory entries.
Collaborate and integrate print process solutions with hardware, electrical, firmware, software, and systems engineering teams.
Education and Training
BS in Materials, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
MS in Materials, Electrical, Chemical Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
Experience
Experience with 3D printing strongly preferred.
Experience with G-code preferred for filament-based printing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge and experience with Solidworks, Magics, and 3D Systems software preferred.
Knowledge and experience with SLA, projector-based printer, or filament printer hardware preferred.
Must have proven ability to communicate in written as well as oral form with diverse groups.
Must be a self-starter who is motivated to deliver projects and results within the expected time.
Proven ability to draw well-founded conclusions from structured experiments and data.
Experience leading projects and project teams preferred.
Knowledge of Lean, ISO, and other quality systems desired.
Solid skills in planning and organization with an ability to plan and manage multiple projects with attention to detail desired.
Proven ability to work in teams as ad hoc leader as well as member required.
Ability and desire to grow technically and cross-functionally required.
