Job Description:

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., is looking for a Senior Director of Finance to support the Vetlab, Rapid Assay, and Digital businesses. This collective of businesses accounts for over $1B in revenue and grew double-digits last year.

This position will be the finance partner of the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Point of Care Diagnostics, and multiple General Managers overseeing three Lines of Business (LOB) with a focus on the strategic business direction for advancing profitable growth. The Senior Director of Finance will possess strong business acumen and have demonstrated strategic decision-making capabilities to assist the EVP and executive team in leading the business. In this highly collaborative role you will be jointly, evaluating strategic options, guiding business decisions and priorities, and delivering business insights with the executive team. The candidate will need to be highly skilled at working across a matrixed environment to incorporate input from functional and regional teams to support business plans, and outlining choices to prioritize alongside the General Managers. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential to deliver clarity in presentations and discussion. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance for Companion Animal Group (CAG), engaging and development of finance employees with an eye towards improved financial modeling, analytical skills, and automation of core reporting will also remain an important goal to advance the function. The candidate should be forthright and direct, yet sensitive, and well as detail oriented.

What you can expect in this role:

• You will direct business/functional activities of Company resources in partnership with business leaders to accomplish our strategy.


• You will develop financial models to support business decisions such as: geographical expansion, impact of new technology, acquisition analysis and operating improvements.


• You will guide development of budget, long-range financial planning, and operating policies in collaboration with the General Managers.


• Working cross-functionally through the organization, bringing a financial perspective and insight to decision making which advances growth and return in the business.


• You will provide direction and delegation to the Finance team, assigning objectives and evaluating results.


• You will develop analyses, reporting and presentations; perform ad hoc financial forecasting, analysis and modeling and special project support as needed.


• You will participate in and may lead aspects of, the monthly close process which includes reconciliation of internal accounts, comparing actual results to latest financial outlook, and reviewing accuracy of revenue, Gross Margin and expense information.


• You will work with multiple systems for use in information retrieval and analyses including SAP, SAP BPC and Business Objects.


• You will identify and implement processes and improvements in planning, analysis, reporting and monitoring of both financial and non-financial measures. Leverage information technology to automate, streamline and integrate processes.


• You will monitor internal control environment. Identify gaps in controls and support development of approaches to mitigate exposure.


• Other support as required from business and functions.

What you will need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
