Intertek's Industry Services team provides technical solutions that help customers maximize operational efficiency, ensure asset reliability, improve quality, and minimize safety risks. Some of our many service areas include inspection, non-destructive and materials testing, technical training, engineering, surveying, QA/QC, and supplier auditing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business and maintaining the existing client base, effectively managing our position within the country, as well as growing client relationships and representing our brand. Responsibilities primarily include the development and execution of the comprehensive and market-leading growth strategy, driving innovative commercial and technical solutions tailored to the customer's unique objectives and challenges, building productive customer relationships across the organization, and adapting the strategy according to future or emerging customer or industry trends as required. This person will also manage the sales team including field activity to achieve targets by maximizing Industry Services revenue. We are looking for an engaging, driven, creative, and proactive change agent, who is both a strategic partner and a sales leader.

This will be a full-time position, based out of our office in The Woodlands, Texas. Extensive travel to client sites will be required.

Duties:


  • Ensure delivery of annual growth targets across orders, revenue, margin, and cash.

  • Proactively participate in the development and implementation of country strategy for Intertek Industry services, aiming at growing the business to reach or exceed targets.

  • Study market trends and identify service improvements or needs for new services by remaining current on industry trends and competitor activities.

  • Assist in the development and champion a process-focused system for business development and sales management.

  • Manage assigned accounts by maintaining a deep understanding of the customer's strategic goals and objectives, organizational structure, and key processes (including decision-making, budgeting, planning, and investment decisions), upcoming opportunities and challenges, and offering complete and full-scope solutions from Intertek.

  • Ensure a cohesive, world-class customer experience by partnering with and coordinating sales specialists, service resources, and other sales and management resources as needed.

  • Manage and champion the use of Intertek's CRM to ensure all activities and opportunities are accurately captured, tracked, and managed within existing Intertek sales processes.

  • Collect competitor intelligence and participate in discussions on differentiating Intertek propositions and implement those decisions.

  • Track and report key marketing information, facilitate strategy BD meetings, motivate and train others, pursue major projects, manage key client relationships, and participate in professional organization memberships and networking.

  • Track and monitor account performance, profit center gross revenue, and maintain critical reporting excellence.

  • Attend professional organization, government, and technical meetings/events as a representative of Intertek and coordinate/participate in these meetings and events on a regular basis.

  • Work with operations to respond to client needs. This may include leading collaborative efforts across multiple offices, regions, or divisions.

  • esearch potential clients to determine Intertek service lines needed, and establish initial and follow-up contacts with identified key decision-makers.

  • Assist with negotiation of Master Service Agreements or other client-provided forms of agreement.

  • Facilitate strategy meetings and client pursuit teams.

  • Direct the activities and monitor the results of subordinate direct reports.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • achelor's Degree or equivalent in technology, engineering, or business.

  • 8+ years of experience in technical sales in a B2B industrial market space or commodities, preferably in oil and gas, power generation, chemical, petrochemical or refining industry, offshore services, or similar.

  • Demonstrated successful background in sales of complex technical services to major industrial buyers in an international/global environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to exercise motivational leadership, foster teamwork, and align organizations.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interface with personnel at all levels in the organization. Must possess the ability to effectively challenge and change established business practices and habits, both on an individual and organizational level.

  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to provide clear direction to the team, set high-performance standards, create a climate of accountability, and demonstrate the highest levels of integrity in all relationships and dealings.

  • Ability to be a supportive mentor and leader to others.

  • Must be able to travel as required, approximately 25-50% annually, depending upon the assigned accounts.
