Your responsibilities:
  • Managing a team of internal and contract developers that are responsible for design, development, testing, deployment and support for software in the Subscription Platforms
  • Working to frame, plan and execute projects effectively, ensuring that deliverables meet functional and quality requirements within established timelines. Requirements will be consolidated from many stakeholder groups, including Membership, Customer Service and Finance, and also from strategic leaders at the Corporate level.
  • Collaborating with tech leads and strategic architects to ensure that platforms are well architected to scale as we grow our subscriptions.
  • Should be able to dissect a set of business requirements and translate them into technical requirements as well as identifying the places or technologies critical to making the projects efficient and successful.
  • Able to identify areas of strategic technical debt and provide cost/benefit analysis for eliminating this debt and suggested timelines for how to prioritize it
  • Should own and promote technologies and intimately know requirements to make multiple projects successful. This should include roadmaps, technical discussions and decisions.
  • Ensuring the applications remain well protected and cared for based on standard development life cycle practices and compliance initiatives; providing information to various auditors as needed. (PCI, SOX, GDPR)
  • Overseeing effective day to day production support activities, including also disaster recovery and contingency planning and testing.
  • Introduces new technologies which will make the team and its output more efficient. This should include but not limited to Cross Knowledge Training
  • Defines and implements application architecture models and programming standards with direction setting support.
  • Understands and practices agile software development and management


Position Requirements:
  • A minimum of 7+ yrs. development experience building back-end applications
  • A minimum of 5+ years managing development teams
  • Experience with Linux, Java, Spring, Hibernate, Shell scripting, JBoss AS, Springboot, AWS
  • Experience in Microservice architectures & its best practises
  • Experience designing, developing and debugging applications which are distributed & asynchronous
  • Experience implementing systems with open source tools
  • Experience with container based application deployment - Docker or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented concepts and J2EE design patterns
  • Experience with Oracle and AWS Cloud database technologies
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience in working with Linux
  • Strong understanding of software best-practices as it applies integration services and REST API development
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies (SCRUM)
  • Experience with outsource engagement collaboration and working in mixed-location environment
  • Firm sense of accountability and ownership for project success.
  • Ability to interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels.
  • Understanding of service oriented architecture
  • Excellent communications skills
