The Chief Administrative Office (CAO) is comprised of multiple global functions that support the firm's businesses in 60 countries, including Global Real Estate, Corporate and Site Services (Global Supplier Services, Global Business & Document Services, Amenity Services, Corporate Insurance, Site Services), Global Security and Corporate Aviation.

The CAO Control team's primary function is to solidify an effective Firm-wide control framework, looking within and across CAO, to identify operational risk and remediate control issues with a sense of urgency regardless of the source. Control Managers work in partnership with the business to provide a centralized view of all controls, assisting in immediate, real time issue detection, assessing for both operational and material risk, reporting through the business control forum and escalation by utilizing the firm's operational risk self-assessment reporting process & system (CORE: Control and Operational Risk Evaluation).

This position is specifically for the Control Manager role overseeing CAO Finance & Business Management (F&BM). F&BM provides CFO, Planning & Analysis and Business Management services to their respective function heads and organizations. The group's responsibilities include budgeting; forecasting; allocations; financial analytics and reporting; workforce management including location strategy planning; vendor management; business management; as well as CCAR, Resolution & Recovery and other firm-wide regulatory and required processes. The F&BM teams are responsible for partnering with CAO leadership team to achieve its financial, strategic and control objectives.

The Control Manager would be responsible for the control oversight and supervision of F&BM and related business management activities, issue management, governance and policy & standards, effective implementation of the CORE framework, as well as providing control support to F&BM and oversight for any regulatory/audit engagements.

Role Responsibilities:


  • Development of CORE mapping and documentations through participation in end-to-end process walkthroughs and deep dives with assigned business
  • Drive risk and control identification, risk assessment and ranking (inherent and residual risk analysis), control evaluation (design, validation, findings & conclusions) and rating, monitor results and other relevant indicators for material breaches
  • Establish control governance and reporting to identify meaningful metrics to inform leadership on health of operational risk and control environment; escalate control breaks based on key reporting indicators; and manage business control committees and forums.
  • Partner effectively with colleagues across F&BM to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices through control forum/committees, issue management, risk mitigation, developing key risk indicators, review control design & effectiveness, and perform control evaluation testing
  • Evaluate, analyze and track issues and action plans to ensure progress toward planned completion dates and provide control guidance to business partners
  • Perform ongoing analysis (including quality testing) of program related metrics (e.g., KRI/KPI) and develop ad-hoc reports as requested to support business-related programs and strategies
  • Work with Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) to monitor, assess and evaluate the material risk inventory (MRI) including mapping CORE, along with overseeing the review of key risk activities (e.g. Independent Second-Line Risk Assessment (ISRA)
  • Support regulatory inquiries by coordinating remediation efforts and liaise with Internal Audit to review schedules, status of engagements, potential areas of concerns

Qualifications:

  • At least 5-10 years' experience in financial services (minimum 5 years in a role with oversight and controls, operational risk management, audit, compliance, or controls).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to develop, lead, drive and execute a complex firm wide program and provide meaningful solutions to complex problems
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple high impact projects, while managing expectations and delivering superior results on time
  • Experience managing relationships and building partnership with business partners and internal peers such as Risk, Audit, Compliance, and Legal to remove roadblocks while balancing the need for quality and regulatory and policy compliance
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment; providing oversight and directly influencing change
  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation, and sense of urgency
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, owning the issues and having the determination to follow tasks/issues through
  • Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills; a strong data analytics and reporting skills
  • Knowledge of Control and Operational Risk Evaluation ( CORE) application, Risk Identification Database & Analytics (FRIDA) tool, preferred
  • Understanding of month-end Planning & Analysis (P&A), Budget/Forecasting and/or Corporate Data Governance program highly desired
