Job Description

Provide operations team leadership and management to attain safety, quality, delivery, cost, and talent building objectives for the Adult and Feminine Care converting assets.

Key Customers:
Functional and area team members, asset teams, facility management, and staff.

Customer Expectations:


  • Provide effective leadership coordination for asset teams on multiple shift operations.

  • Maintain a positive work environment to promote safety, housekeeping, and human relations.

  • Ensure the economic production of quality products and services.

  • Ensure that assets are properly managed and maintained.

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, corporate policies and facility policies.

Scope:
The incumbent reports to the Operations Manager. Incumbent has broad operations responsibility for three converting assets used for producing finished consumer goods. The position provides leadership for a team which typically includes members from one or two functional areas.
 

Dimensions:


  • Personnel: Directly manage up to 65 hourly employees

  • Payroll: $6.3 MM per year

  • Operating Budget: $19.5 million

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Lead the safety efforts of the operations team to prevent injuries and illnesses to NCSF employees. This leadership should visibly demonstrate in action, and not merely in word, that safety is a core value of the organization and should include: knowing and enforcing safety rules, ensuring that planned inspections are performed, auditing team members’ safe behaviors, leading accident investigations, conducting timely investigations and follow-up on corrective action items.

  • Communicate managing philosophies and objectives to employees to ensure their participation in the achievement of facility and asset team objectives. Provide hourly performance feedback and document annually.

  • Provide leadership in the event of a facility emergency. Assess the situation and ensure appropriate measures are being implemented to control the emergency. In crisis situations, initiate the appropriate contact with upper management.

  • Address performance issues and assist in the resolution of conflict, encouraging resolution to occur at the lowest organizational level.

  • Maintain high employee morale through positive motivation and leadership and strict adherence to facility norms and understandings, policies and guidelines.

  • Support the training and development of employees to ensure continued plant growth, effective operation and to minimize need for direct supervision.

  • Audit production and quality of operating departments on shift to ensure production of acceptable product.

  • Utilizing SAP and PIPEMAP, monitor and maintain production inventories, complete month-end reconciliation, and audit department costs.

  • Review departmental costs for items outside of budgeted spending.

  • Work with the TALCM best practices for identifying and controlling work orders and assigning appropriate maintenance personnel.

  • Facilitate scheduling of production employees, equipment operation, and material flow to ensure attainment of customer service.

  • Ensure that established internal control policies, instructions, or procedures are followed as they apply to this position.

  • Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates and others who have need to know. Be informative without being obtrusive or vexatious. Communicate in a way that is timely, yet prompt; complete, yet concise; candid, yet accurate; and clear, yet responsive.

  • Provide leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains the best people and fosters an environment which motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results.

  • Responsible for reviewing and authorizing timecards bi-weekly for team members which may include reconciling data and any necessary follow-ups.  

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited College or University. 

  • 5+ years of experience.

  • Experience facilitating projects/programs in a team environment while providing team leadership.

  • Strong capabilities in developing team members through coaching and feedback.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with LEAN Manufacturing and problem solving.

  • Experience in a high-speed industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in a leadership/supervisory position managing hourly team members.  

  • Knowledge and experience in operations at the functional level.
