Job Summary:

The Onsite Engagement and Well-Being Coordinator will work closely with the Cigna Account Management Team and Customer's Health and Wellness team in executing the organization's health management goals. The primary focus of the Engagement and Well-Being Coordinator is health promotion.

In collaboration, with the Cigna account team, the Onsite Engagement and Well-Being Coordinator executes the appropriate delivery and coordination of wellness programs including event scheduling and appointment coordination, community and vendor programs, and monitors effectiveness of the programs. The focus of the Engagement and Onsite Well-Being Coordinator is the working well population of employees in aggregate. A core objective of this position is to facilitate wellness programs that educate and influence employees at the worksite to lead healthy lifestyles.

The Onsite Engagement and Well-being Coordinator is also responsible for consulting with the client and broker in the development of strategic health improvement plans, spearheading customer engagement initiatives, coordinating all open enrollment activities, and educating customers to be informed consumers of health benefits. Collaborates with client manager to keep them informed of account status, potential problems, opportunities for expanded business, and ensuring all client/customer needs are met.

This role will require the candidate to be onsite at the client's location(s) throughout Chicago and surrounding suburbs.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with Employer on Development of Wellness Committee

a. Collaborate with the employer in formation and facilitation of a wellness committee if one has not already been established and include different levels of employer leadership and employees from the worksite

b. Ongoing collaboration and facilitation of employer wellness committee

c. Review the proposed health promotion strategy with the wellness committee, partnering with the Cigna lead for health and wellness as appropriate

2. Collaborate in development and delivery of promotion campaign

a. Newsletters, posters, email, raffles, reminders, etc.

b. Overall promotion development and deployment

3. Health Awareness Seminars

a. End to end coordination of health awareness seminars

b. Deliver single or multi-session workshops on a group basis (lunch and learn)

c. Develop or pull from defined list of wellness topics; may be tailored to population, season, etc.

d. Education for various health related topics (nutrition/healthy eating, physical activity, etc.)

4. Wellness Campaigns

a. Facilitate health related group activities among population over a defined time period (10K Steps, Resolution Revolution)

b. Focus of campaign is to initiate behavior change and health improvement

5. Wellness Event/Fair

a. Assist employer HR/Management in coordination of event/fair (member of employer led planning committee)

i. Guest speakers, health assessment, open enrollment, family wellness event, annual biometric event, etc.

6. Wellness Resources

a. Manage wellness bulletin board and electronic media board.

b. Share health and wellness related educational materials.

Uses Cigna's Life Connected approach to develop customized engagement strategies that empower customers to become responsible health care consumers.

Responsible for executing agreed upon recommended action plans to achieve specific engagement and outcome based metrics for assigned medical and dental client.

Provides ongoing analysis and evaluation of client communications/ well-being strategies to determine effectiveness, penetration, and impact to client's total claims and utilization, biometric data, and employee engagement. Serves as a subject matter expert who effectively articulates and demonstrates Cigna's health engagement solutions aligned with Cigna's Go to Market message. Drives and leads all aspects of open enrollment including but not limited to conducting on-site customer facing presentations/meetings on benefit and product offerings. Coordinates and leads all onsite customer facing activities including health and benefit fairs, community events and non-clinical presentations. Monitors and ensures Cigna appropriated funds such as Health Improvement Funds (HIF) are utilized in adherence with company guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in health and wellness field

  • Hospital experience preferred but not required

  • CHES preferred or other health certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health education, health promotion, or related field preferred

  • Experience with direct member communication (written and verbal)

  • Experience conducting educational and support groups preferred

  • Ability to obtain Insurance License (Health, Life, AD&D)

  • Ability to obtain Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certified

  • Ability to function in consultative manner and provide strategic direction/recommendations

  • Ability to quickly establish relationships and build credibility with clients, customers and peers

  • Ability to manage through systems and influence direct and matrix partners to deliver
