PACCAR Technical Center is seeking an engine aftertreatment development engineer to support the hardware integration of engine aftertreatment systems as part of the PACCAR Global Engines team.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Support the definition of system limits on aftertreatment sensors, actuators and system configurations
Work with suppliers to develop and acquire limit parts for exhaust routing, catalysts, sensors and actuators
Ensure all aftertreatment configurations meet internal and supplier requirements
Successfully integrate and verify aftertreatment hardware during development at the engine test cell and vehicle level
Support FMEA process for hardware and system design
Complete reports and presentations to communicate findings, draw conclusions and give recommendations on next steps
Maintain positive working relationship with other groups at the PACCAR Technical Center and other PACCAR divisions
Recommend, develop and execute on continuous process improvement to improve product quality, reliability and durability of the MX engine aftertreatment system
Stays aware of new and upcoming aftertreatment technologies and testing methods
Qualifications
5-8 years of work experience in the automotive industry
Strong knowledge of heavy duty diesel emissions regulatory requirements including diagnostics
Detailed knowledge of current diesel exhaust aftertreatment technology (DOC, DPF, SCR & DEF)
Proficient with engine calibration, data collection tools (ATI Vision, Cummins Calterm & Vector CANalyzer) and engine control systems
Scripting and data analysis experience desired
Experience with data collection, analysis and test planning
Must be self-directed; possess excellent analysis, communication and presentation skills; must be organized and take a rigorous approach to engineering projects
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Must be able to manage personal workload and have the willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
Ability to travel up to 15%, including international travel
Education
BS in a technical (STEM) field required, MS preferred
