PRIMARY PURPOSE Performs clerical work of intermediate difficulty that requires a sound knowledge of department or hospital procedures and in-depth analysis and use of individual judgment. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONSEducation- High School DiplomaExperience- Must have two years of clerical experience in an office environment, preferably in a job-related field. Equivalent Education and/or Experience- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the experience requirements. Certification/Registration/Licensure- May be required to maintain Notary Public certification.Skills or Special Abilities- Must be able to demonstrate ability to use independent judgment in resolving issues within established guidelines.- Must be able to type.- Must be able to utilize required software for assigned department.- Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff. Responsibilities 1. Receives, classifies, reconciles, consolidates and/or summarizes documents and information ensuring accuracy. 2. Assures thorough and complete control procedures in order to maintain accurate records of documents processed. 3. Compiles regular and special reports in accordance with established formats and procedures. 4. Types forms, correspondence and reports. 5. Answers telephones, takes messages, routes calls and provides routine information to callers. 6. Greets visitors, receives information, determines best of course of action for responding to information, and provides information. 7. Serves as a lead worker with regard to assisting with hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities, while providing optimal customer service. 8. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and PHHS. 9. Stays abreast of changes to departmental or hospital procedures or to ensure quality service is provided. Attends in-house seminars, reads internal publications, and integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. 10. Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, other employees, and visitors to ensure efficient work processes. 11. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Clerical area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding. Job Accountabilities 1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
