Responsibilities

We are seeking a electrochemist with experience in chemical modification of surfaces and/or nanomaterials with small molecules, DNA, and/or biomolecules using primarily solution-phase methods. The position will involve design and execution of orthogonal surface chemistries to functionalize surfaces. The candidate should be well-versed in surface/nanomaterials characterization techniques, including UV-VIS spectroscopy and other surface analysis techniques, as well as energy storage, fluidic batteries, and/or solid state batteries.

The potential candidate must thrive amidst a multidisciplinary team comprising skills in microfluidics, microfabrication, instrumentation, biology, mechanical and electrical engineering, and more. Experience with electrochemistry involving biomolecules and modeling electrochemistry is desirable. Additionally, the candidate will be a self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

    Design and execute experiments for selective modifications of surfaces
  • Chemical modification and analysis of substrates and microfluidic devices

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline and 5+ years direct and demonstrated experience in a laboratory/R&D setting. PhD preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nanomaterials and surface chemistry, and a demonstrated ability to innovate.

  • Familiarity with UV-VIS spectroscopy, use of oxidation-reduction potentials to drive chemical reactions, cyclic voltammetry, microfluidic and electrochemical environments, and energy storage technology is required.

Ability to acquire and maintain a US government security clearance (US citizen or permanent resident). Existing clearance strongly preferred.
