R&D Lab Technician at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Grand Prairie, Texas

Job Description:

As a Lab Technician you will support incoming material testing, Work in process (WIP) product testing, internal R&D, and new product development prototype testing and analysis. You will assist R&D scientists and design engineers in the execution of their development activities under the mentorship of the Lab Manager. In addition, you will accomplish all testing required to validate production hardware meets all end customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform inspection and testing of raw materials to measure acceptability
• Perform in-process testing to ensure product acceptability
• Ensure procedures and reports related to laboratory work are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Conduct testing to Customer PO's and drawing requirements, following AS9100, Military, FAA, & NADCAP requirements
• Partner with Sr Chemists and Engineer to document all analysis and testing completed for R&D and New Product development projects.
• Work with Band Saws, Mills, Table Routers and Drill Press and follow the requirements for laboratory equipment and testing.
• Maintain a clean and safe lab working environment and ensure that laboratory is efficient and meets delivery schedules
• Provide prompt and satisfactory customer service to internal customers.
• Partner with other technicians through all the plant.

Qualifications :

• Experience with plastics, primers, coatings, and composites a plus
• Eagerness to working in an industrial environment and capable of executing against established processes and standards
• Ability to prioritize, and proactively communicate status updates.
• Attention to detail and consistent follow through are needed to succeed in this role
• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments.
• Computer competencies, including Excel and Word
• Ability to work any overtime as required
• Able to lift and carry up to 35 pound product test samples
