Job Description

The Test Engineer will be based in Columbia, SC.

This is a test engineering position that supports a manufacturing production environment.  This includes internal customer support to keep things running, making ship dates, interfacing with design, NPI and production teams.  A good grasp of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles will assist to achieve all deliverables.  As a member of the Operations Engineering team, you will get the opportunity to support multiple products and participate in a wide variety of cross focus teams, to ensure customer satisfaction and quality production.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:


  • Partner with customer to establish, setup and/or design manufacturing production tests and help determine conditions under which tests are be conducted and sequenced for test operations

  • Direct and/or coordinate electronic engineering and/or technical personnel in fabrication and design of testing and test control apparatus and equipment, or software and systems testing

  • Direct and/or coordinate electronic engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices required to test, telemeter and record test data

  • Interface and confer with scientific, engineering, technical personnel and customer to resolve testing issues such as; product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, data interpretation or coding issues

  • Analyze and interpret test data, technical report preparation and presentation to production, engineering, and management personnel

  • Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems or software

  • Train and instruct production support, test technicians and test operators on test hardware and/or software, as well as proper problem-solving techniques

  • Resolve test yield problems by performing analysis of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures and monitoring improvements

  • Participate in ISO 9001, 13485, 14001 process documentation, audits and safety regulatory requirements

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):


  • Manufacturing production support experience

  • Demonstrated analytical skills to troubleshoot complex issues such as; computer and electronic components (hardware and software), functional aspects of product operations, and processes

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with abstract and concrete variables

  • Windows/Linux/networking knowledge / experience (installation/setup/daily operations experience), includes office packages

  • Electrical experience (meters, troubleshooting)
